Passed away peacefully at home in Scottsdale, AZ with her 3 children at her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Evelyn became a resident of Scottsdale, Arizona in 1986. Prior to that she resided in Atherton, California for 27 years. Evelyn was born in San Francisco, and a fourth generation resident of that City. She was one of two children born to the late Elizabeth and Anthony Bajada. She was raised in San Francisco and graduated from Mission High School. During her working career she held the position of accountant at various companies, with her favorite employment venue being the Alpine Hills Tennis and Swim Club in Portola Valley. Prior to moving to Scottsdale, Evelyn was an active member at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Menlo Park, CA, and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Palo Alto, CA.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Robert McCarthy, whom she will join at Holy Cross Cemetery, All Saints’ Mausoleum, St. Joan of Arc Corridor, where she will be laid to rest. She is survived by her children, Daniel Mainini and his wife, GeeGee, of San Miguel, CA, Janet Manger and her husband, Alex, of Menlo Park, CA, and John Mainini and his wife, Jan, of Scottsdale, AZ; her grandchildren, Alexandria, Kerry, Eric, Jason, Justin, Kelly, Lauren and Johnny; her great-grandchildren, Christian, Kiera, Mia, Max, and Wiebke, her brother George Bajada and countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her.

Evelyn was a guiding force to her children and grandchildren throughout her life, and enjoyed a close relationship with them. She always welcomed them into her charming home which was a strong reflection of her own personality, with her beautiful, sparking, turquoise eyes and her loving, open arms. Evelyn loved listening to music, dancing, laughing, enjoying her family, indulging her grandchildren, and having fun with friends. She touched the lives and hearts of many people with her smile and generosity, her unwavering faith, and her courage. Throughout her illness, she displayed a sense of elegance and grace, and even in her times of severe discomfort, she still had a smile, kind words to share, and a heartfelt appreciation for those of us who had the honor and good fortune to care for her during her most difficult months. It is a testament to her strength of spirit that she maintained her trademark wry sense of humor to the very end. Evelyn will forever be remembered as a gracious lady whose benevolence inspired others and touched the lives of all who knew her.
